I ordered my 340 Six Pack setup and it's supposed to get here tomorrow by FedEx. I can hardly wait. I was going to keep my Holley 3310 for another project, but I've decided to return it because I'm not sure what's going on with it. It was sold to me as a brand new carburetor, and it looks brand new, but there are a couple of things that make me wonder. First, I wanted to re-jet it because they come from the factory calibrated for sea level, and I live at almost 5000' elevation. When I pulled the front bowl, the jets that were installed were not the ones listed in the owner's manual. OK, maybe they changed the factory calibration without updating the manual... More troubling was what I found when I pulled the rear bowl. Holley makes 2 types of floats - brass and "Hydrofil." I think for most uses one is just about as good as the other, and for my use I really don't care what style my carburetor is equipped with. However, on my particular 3310, the front bowl has a brass float and the rear bowl has a Hydrofil float. While I think either style is OK, I want the same style used on a single carburetor. When I see 2 different float styles used on a single it makes me wonder. Is Holley putting these things together with whatever parts they happen to have laying around (doesn't speak much for quality control, or at least consistency IMO), or did someone else monkey with this thing and then return it, after which it was (re)sold to me as a "new" carburetor? Either way, I don't want it. I may buy a different 3310 later and see if I have better luck (I do like the design), but this one is going back for a refund.
